Flavour profile

  Nicaragua Jinotega is a mild and very well-balanced coffee. Its excellent taste, exceptional body and ideal acidity makes it a widely popular coffee.

  Thanks to its quite low acidity the caramel and honey sweetness is more tangible; bitter cocoa and nutty flavour gives way to sharper notes of cognac and tobacco. All this is rounded up with hot spice flavour. Brew has the aftertaste of velvety chocolate.

  A fine, fruity and floral aroma floats over this coffee - delicate, yet so diversified in flavour.

 

Region of origin

  This coffee comes from highland plantations located in mid-northern Nicaragua. Jinotega is one of three main Arabica growing regions and also it is the trade name of this renowned coffee. From this mountainous and volcanic part of the country comes about 80% of Nicaraguan coffee production and they are all high-quality beans.

  Favourable weather conditions are a great advantage: hot and humid equatorial climate, dense forest cover and fertile soils. Cultivation is carried out on highly permeable, fertile, rich in minerals volcanic soils.

  Altitude of plantations: 1400 - 2000 m above sea level.

 

Recommended way of brewing

  This coffee is a universal variety and has a wide range of uses. Excellent for brewing in a coffee machine. The beans are characterised by medium acidity, delicate flavour and makes a good espresso, however without a very thick crema.

  It can be also made using alternative methods of brewing. Drip coffee maker will extract full flavour of Nicaraguan coffee. Syphon will enhance its flavour and its acidity. French-press will bring up the best features of Jinotega coffee.

  Nicaragua tastes delicious served in a simple way: black, without milk. It is quite often used as a valuable ingredient in coffee blends.
