Flavour profile

San Jeronimo coffee is a classic, typically Guatemalan variety. It is famous for its very good taste and beautiful aroma. Its brew is thick, with a chocolatey flavour and a tangible sugar cane note.
It has a distinct spicy character, with a bit of smoky taste and good acidity. Its body ranges from medium to full, its flavour is expressive and complete. There is the sweetness of sugar cane, caramel and honey, the bitterness of chocolate and full-bodied taste of spices.
Clearly tangible citrus acidity of this coffee harmonises with the fresh, vibrant flavour of lime and green tea. The brew has a pleasant, tart aftertaste.

Region of origin

San Jeronimo coffee comes from the very heart of Guatemala. This region is one of the main centres of Arabica production in the country.
Coffee trees grow on highlands, hills and volcanic slopes. The landscape in this region is particularly picturesque and its micro-climate creates perfect conditions for the cultivation of this high-quality Arabica. About 50% of the plantation area is covered with a natural forest. The trees provide a convenient shade for this sensitive Arabica and frequent volcanic eruptions supply the rich and fertile soil with extra nitrogen.
This region lies in the humid sub-equatorial zone. There are two distinctive, 6-month long parts of the year: dry season and wet season. Long hours of sunshine, proper humidity, grounds rich in minerals and volcanic slopes are the factors making the coffee from those hills regarded as one of the most valued and exquisite varieties in the world.
Altitude of plantations: 1200 -2000 m above sea level.

Recommended way of brewing

This coffee is a universal variety and has multiple uses. It is excellent for every brewing method. It is ideal for pressure coffee makers (moka pots). Equally good results are obtained from brewing it in bean-to-cup and espresso machines, French press and by simply brewing in the cup. This coffee has a wide array of uses in alternative methods of brewing: the brew made in Aeropress will fully enhance its flavour and extract the whole aroma of this Guatemalan coffee.
