Brazil is a leading manufacturer and exporter of coffee and the number of variaties available is enormous. Brazilian coffee of Santos variety took its name from the name of the port from which it is exported.
Beans come from plantations located in the mid-eastern part of Brazil, from Sao Paulo state and the Minas Gerais district. That region concentrates the biggest and the oldest plantations in Brazil which provide the high-quality beans of excellent body. Plantations are made up of numerous smaller farms and each of them adds certain special features to the coffee being grown there, thus making it unique.
Upland and hillside areas, subtropical, humid climate, thick hydrographic grid and incredibly fertile, volcanic soil create favourable conditions for Arabica cultivation.
The characteristic feature of Santos coffee is relatively low altitude of the plantations. Average altitude of coffee plantations is 800-1300 m above sea level.
This coffee has a harmonious flavour, rich and sweet aroma, is well-balanced and has versatile uses. It is great as a single-origin coffee as well as the basic ingredient of blends. Brasil Santos has low acidity, produces a great and stable crema and as such is perfect to make a cup of espresso.
Equally good results are obtained from brewing it in all kinds of coffee machines, although the moka pot, French press and Aeropress will fully reveal the remarkable qualities of this coffee.
